Ninkasi Brewing began its history on June 15th, 2006 when Jamie Floyd and Nikos Ridge spent 17 hours brewing their first batch of Total Domination IPA in leased space inside a German restaurant in Springfield, Oregon. Once a brewery, the building was equipped with a 15 barrel brew house set up for brewpub brewing.
Within the next few months Ninkasi maximized its first home as they pushed their maximum annual output of 1600 barrels. Meanwhile, the two worked with the City of Eugene, the SBA, Liberty Bank and some investors to purchase their current location in the heart of the Historic Whiteaker neighborhood in Eugene. Over time, Ninkasi transformed the old plumbing company’s building into the modern production brewery it is today.
The brewery now features a brand-new 30 barrel system, and in less than two years has been able to anchor itself as Eugene’s flagship brewery, enjoying great support throughout the region. When not making and selling beer Ninkasi is doing what they can to support all forms of the arts, from music events, bands, theater, dance, and fine arts, to festivals and neighborhood parties.
The Ninkasi tasting room opened in November 2009. Located in the brewery building, it has been remodelled and is a great place to taste the current seasonals as well as the flagship Ninkasi lines - Total Domination, Tricerahops, and Believer. They are open 11am to 7pm everyday. (The beer dock is open M-F 9:30-5:30, Weekends 11-4:30.)
Why Ninkasi? The ancient Sumerians worshipped the beer they made, and praised the Goddess Ninkasi for the miracle of fermentation. Beer is a staple of civilization. Worship the Goddess.

A salute to the playful side of summer, we had fun with this beer! Maiden the Shade has a big robust hop character from the liberal use of 7 different varieties of hops. It s completed with a light colored malt backbone to stay in balance. Kick back and enjoy!
Crisp and flavorful, Radiant Ale is a clean finishing summer offering in the Ninkasi tradition. The smooth malt character is balanced by a elegant hop bitterness, the perfect compliment to a glorious summer day.
