Our Ethos: Why We Donate

The ancient Sumerians worshipped the beer they made and praised the goddess Ninkasi for the miracle of fermentation. As one of the first-known communities, the Sumerians began to forgo hunting and gathering for an agrarian existence, establishing the first foundations of modern civilization. They understood the value of beer in their communities and relied on the brewery as a pillar and hub of social connectivity. Additionally, beer and the fermentation process provided potable water, nourishment, health, and joy. It was the catalyst for written language and education; all valuable contributors to an evolved quality of life and living.

In tribute to this tradition, we are dedicated to brewing excellent craft beers, supporting the communities where we operate, and having as much fun as possible along the way! We are proud to operate the Ninkasi Beer is Love program, which, in 2012 alone, contributed to more than 600 non-profits and community organizations throughout the areas we serve. None of this would be possible without the support of all Ninkasi beer enthusiasts.

We believe beer can continue to make the world a better place and we want to do our part by helping your cause or organization in any way we can!

Beer Is Love: How We Donate

We know it will take a few minutes of your time, but please read the following guidelines for a better understanding of our donations program process. We recommend submitting donation requests at least three weeks in advance. We receive a high volume of requests each week and cannot respond to all, but we try! If your donation request is approved, we will send a confirmation e-mail with follow-up steps.

Why do we ask so many questions?

Alcohol beverage producers must track donated/in-kind product and comply with specific state and local laws. Our online form process maintains compliance with state requirements and helps us meet our high standards of responsibility to the community and our partners' safety. Make sense?

We require at least two weeks lead time and prefer even more than that.

Is your event or date of need less than two weeks away? If so, we are sorry that we are unable to help at this time. Please think about us for your next event and feel free to get as far ahead of your event calendar with requests as you would like. Many organizations post their requests months before their event dates. We encourage you to do the same so that we can process your request in a timely manner.

Please be specific with details and visit your local alcohol boards website first

Please include as many details as possible so we can get a clear picture of your organization and event. The more specific you are with your request, the better we can respond with solutions to your need.

We will e-mail you if your event is approved.

Your request will be processed in the order it is received. Beer Is Love is a very popular program and unfortunately we cannot donate or respond to every cause. We are doing the best we can, and apologize if we cannot respond in time for your event. If your request is approved, arrangements for product pick up will be made via return e-mail. We will make sure you know what to do. Again, please note that the law in your state of residence may require you be a registered non-profit to receive product and also will determine if you need to pick up or receive delivery.

21 and over, please.

As obvious as this may sound, recipients must be 21 years of age or over with valid ID and possess all relevant local licenses according to your request's intended use. Donations and product sponsor recipients are responsible for applicable equipment deposits and return.
