An all-American pastime deserves an all-American craft beer! With an idea that started over a year ago, we have teamed up with the Eugene Emeralds, our local Minor League baseball team, to create the ideal beer for fans—a brew that pairs perfectly with sunshine and summer baseball.

“We’ve worked with the Emeralds for a while now, but this year we wanted to make something unique, not only for the team but for its fans to enjoy,” explains our VP of sales Marty Ochs. “We invited the Emeralds’ staff to come to the brewery and describe the flavors and profiles they would want to enjoy in the stands at the park.”

Our team of brewers came together with staff from the Emeralds to select each ingredient used in the brew. From the malt to the hops, the panel smelled, tasted and evaluated each ingredient before landing on the perfect recipe. The end result: a dark copper red ale that is incredibly crisp and hoppy with a dry finish.

“Ninkasi has been a great partner with the Emeralds since 2011, but getting to work with them in their environment was a whole new experience,” said Allan Benavides, general manager for the Eugene Emeralds.  “We cannot wait to give our fans a totally unique beer created just for our ballpark.”

“We have worked with many organizations to create unique beers like our Conservationale for the Eugene Water and Electric Board (EWEB) and Commonwealth  Ale, celebrating the City of Eugene’s 150th Anniversary,” says Ochs. “This beer is special because it is the first time we physically brought another organization into the brewery to create a beer from the very beginning.”

Together, we have decided to turn to our fans to choose an official name for the brew! Starting on June 14, opening day at PK Park, fans can enter their beer name ideas to our Facebook page. We'll be announcing the official name for the beer at the June 27th home game.
