Global Neighborhood is a non-profit organization in Spokane, Wash. that provides former refugees opportunities for holistic development. What does that look like? Global Neighborhood works to provide paid job-training and employment to former refugees in its community as well as connecting them with new American friends who help provide language acquisition, cultural assimilation, and a welcoming face in a new city.

The organization believes strongly in friendships, empowerment, and a strong community. It's members try to live out these values among the refugees in the city as well as fostering them in Global Neighborhood supporters. The focus at any event hosted by Global Neighborhood is to create a sense of community, common mission, and to celebrate the the diversity around us. "We've found that those things usually go hand-in-hand with a good beer," comments Brent Hendricks, executive director of Global Neighborhood.

One such way Global Neighborhood is able to bring together communities is through positive partnerships. The Blackletter Show, a typography and motorcycle show featuring works from artists in the Spokane community, presented the perfect way to bring artists of all types together. The show, included prints, paintings, mixed media, and motorcycles. Posters and Ninkasi beers were for sale throughout the event, benefiting Global Neighborhood.

"The turnout was amazing, the response was great and the space at Stex had such a cool vibe with the motorcycles around," commented Collect Collect Collect writer.

Check out these great photos from the event captured by Ben Fowler.

We were fortunate to be able to support this event through our Beer is Love program and are excited to continue this great relationship!
