This past Saturday, three blue grass bands competed for a spot at the 2013 Northwest String Summit on the Ninkasi Northwest Local Stage at Cascadia. The three bands were selected through our YouTube competition. Over ten blue grass bands submitted videos and only three were selected to play at the Ninkasi String Off on July 6.

The first band to play was BrownChicken BrownCow from West Virginia. They truly captured the audience's attention and got people's feet tapping. Together, they moved rhythmically as they only had one microphone to work with. It was quite the sight to see (and very impressive!).

KD1

KD The next band to play was the Kitchen Dwellersfrom Bozeman, Montana. At first, we were having some technical difficulties with sound but this group of talented men really took over and played amazingly. They had so much character and pizazz. It was overall a great performance.

OBM3

The final band to play was Old Bear Mountain from Spokane, Washington. They had a little bit of twist to their blue grass sound. By the end of the evening, people were out of their seats and dancing on the patio with the band! It was a memorable moment that we will always remember here at the Tasting Room.

Decision

At the end of the event, it was decision time. A secret panel of judges was hidden among the crowd and they watched audience reactions and then they put in their opinions as well. The band we chose to play at the Northwest String Summit is… (drum roll please)… BROWNCHICKEN BROWNCOW!

We are so thrilled to have them perform on our stage. They will be playing on Saturday, July 20 from 9:45am to 10:45am. While this may seem early, there really is nothing better than grabbing some breakfast at Cascadia and hearing this incredibly talented band play.

Tickets are still on sale now online. You can find more information here: www.stringsummit.com/tickets/.
