Conscious Immaturityis a non-profit organization based in San Francisco that works to improve music education opportunities for children. Its main fund-raising efforts include producing benefit shows for its organization and other non-profits, and hosting ticket giveaways and raffles featuring signed gear and memorabilia. With the proceeds it is working to establish after-school music programs in partnership with existing community organizations throughout San Francisco.

Mike Ray, Conscious Immaturity founder, started the organization a couple of years ago after a career redirection to focus on his true passion, live music. After realizing the situation with budget cuts and music programs in his city and throughout California he also wanted to find a way to give back. Instead of just volunteering with one of the many organizations working with schools, Conscious Immaturity aims to be an option for kids who don't have opportunities at their school.

That is why the organization's focus is slightly different as it aims to add free after-school music programs to community centers that are not school specific. It provides the teachers and instruments and utilize their existing space. After almost three years of building the organization, Conscious Immaturity is launching its first free after-school program this school year at The Booker T. Washington Community Center in San Francisco.

We are excited to help support Conscious Immaturity and its goals to be a way for musicians and music fans to give back and ensure future generations of quality live music and musicians. Going forward the organization plans to expand the programs to locations throughout the bay area and California, and eventually host an annual festival to support those efforts.
