From October 7th to 12th, Design Week Portland is hosting nearly 200 events and open houses to showcase and celebrate design across disciplines. As soon as we heard that this super cool event was happening, we obviously wanted to go!

In case such a vibrant event wasn't enough reason to hit up this celebration WeMake, one of our Design Week Portland events, benefits our valued non-profit partner All Hands Raised. All Hands Raised brings together local business, government, non-profit organizations, faith community, parents, students and community stakeholders to ensure the sustained success of every child in Portland and Multnomah County from cradle to career.

Since combining work and pleasure is kind of our thing, Nicole, the goddess of our Beer is Love donations program for the Northwest, lined up a fantastic slate of events for Ninkasi so we can support the local arts community AND All Hands Raised. Win-win!

AIGA / Blurred Lines: A Curated Exploration of the Future of Interaction

Wednesday, October 9th-11th

Join AIGA Portland at Design Week Portland for Blurred Lines, a curated exploration of the future of interaction. Blurred Lines takes on the weighty challenge of interaction – where it’s going and how technology and the design of physical spaces are impacting individual and shared experiences. A three-day immersive, interactive experience, Blurred Lines features installations by the region’s leading design studios, each creating interactions that incorporate light, sound, images, motion, culture and history. Through these installations we hope to spark experiences that open the door to the frontier of interaction.

We welcome you to drop by our store in Portland's Old Town neighborhood at 450 NW Couch St. on Wednesday October 9th between 4 and 7 pm. Enjoy a beverage while browsing handmade products and seeing our team at work crafting your favorite Orox designs at our on-site workshop.

AEPDX & Colorcubic Present: Reel Review/Kontrast

Join AEPDX with our panel of 3 esteemed judges as we review submitted animation and motion reels from local studios and artists and give creative feedback. The evening will showcase a number of demo reels from individuals and agencies from around Portland. , where a demo reel is played for the audience then in a rapid-fire type of response, panelists provide constructive feedback to the creator. The event is a chance for the community to come together and show off some of the jaw dropping work done right here in Portland.

CONTENT: A Publication Party

CONTENT is the first event of its kind during Design Week Portland, celebrating the unique independent publishing community in Portland. This publication party will showcase 20 tables filled with printed content created by a wide variety of designers, writers, and makers. Although the digital age can make design feel fleeting, the purpose of this gathering is to promote the lasting, tangible effects of the printed object. Come peruse and purchase printed wares in a festive atmosphere and experience first-hand the distinctive printed matter that forms the intersection of the Portland design and publishing communities.

ADX’s Design Week Open House

ADX is an ever-evolving space. We are a shop located in the industrial heart of inner Southeast Portland. The shop is a membership-based design and prototyping facility as well as an innovation incubator. By providing tools, learning experiences, and networking opportunities, we are quickly building a culture that will redefine Portland’s creative abilities through work, collaboration and community participation.

This year we’re stepping up our game and putting on one hell of a party! WeMake Celebrates is our way to say thank you to the design community for an incredible year of inspiration. Born from the idea of creating a platform that fosters art and design within our community through hands-on experiences, workshops and design in action initiatives. WeMake hosts sketchXchange a monthly night of inspiration and drawing and a chance to peep into the sketchbooks of some of Portland’s favorite illustrators. WeMake also coordinates discovery workshops with Portland’s craftsmen community.

Letterpress Printer Fair

Learn about Letterpress and get to know your local printers! The Fair will feature all things letterpress: vendors and suppliers of letterpress equipment, foundry type, letterpress printed cards, posters, broadsides, books, ephemera, and more! And a new event for the Fair, our Steam Powered Design Challenge, a live, large-scale, collaborative printing competition, cosponsored by Etch-Pop. Create a team, design a block, and print it with a steam-roller at the event!

    Thanks for posting about our event! We really appreciated your support this year. I do have a correction for you though. DWPDX did not coordinate our event or raise any funds for All Hands Raised. WeMake is solely responsible for that. :)
