Ninkasi Launch

Earlier this month, we announced our quest to launch 16 strains of brewer's yeast above the atmosphere and into space, with the hope that the yeast would return viable and able to brew with. It was a long journey for our little yeast strains, and the journey still continues!

Have you recieved the results yet? I was only able to read a portion of the article on wired before the page would act up.

I am curious about the benefits and how sending yeast into space is able to enhance the brewing process in years to come.

Again it is an interesting project and a neat collaboration between brewers and the space community. Hopefully I will be able to get an update on this.

Was able to read the wired article in it's entirety on another browser. That was a great experiment and hopefully this yeast will lay the ground work for a new breed of brewing.

Interesting that after traveling 62 miles into orbit the major issue was right back here at home with the desert heat threatening to ruin the samples.
