Poached Pear Salad with Believer
If you are looking for the perfect fall salad, this is it! With sweet poached pairs and pungent cambozola cheese, this salad is perfect as a side to share or as a meal in itself.
- Poached Pears
- 4 firm pears (Bosc or other variety), peeled
- 22 oz. of Believer Double Red Ale
- 2 tbsp. honey
- 1 tbsp. balsamic vinegar
- 1 tbsp. balsamic vineagar
- 1/4 cup olive oil
1 tbsp. whole grain mustard
- 1 lb. mixed-green salad
- 10 oz. cambozola
Prepare the pears by peeling them whole. Then, set them aside.
In a small saucepan, combine the Believer, honey and balsamic vinegar over medium heat. Stir. Once the honey has dissolved, add the peeled pairs. Bring to a simmer and allow it to simmer for 30-40 minutes or until the pears are soft. Remove the pears and allow to cool to room temperature or refrigerate overnight if serving the next day.
Once cooled, slice the pears and place over the green salad with the sliced cambozola or your favorite blue cheese.
To make the dressing, combine 1/4 cup of the remaining beer sauce, 1 tbsp. balsamic vinegar, 1/4 cup olive oil, and 1 tbsp. whole grain mustard. Drizzle over the salad and serve!
