Beer is Love Partner Spotlight: Patagonia and CicLAviAug 10, 2015 Comments (0)
This year, Ninkasi and Patagonia have partnered together for multiple events to help nonprofits in communities all over the West Coast. One of these events was on June 17th in Southern California, where Ninkasi helped Patagonia celebrate the end of their annual Bike to Work week. The event supported CicLAvia, an L.A.-based nonprofit that promotes car-free street events and lifestyles. The folks at Patagonia gave us a rundown of their Bike to Work Week celebration.
This event was the highlight of Patagonia's annual Bike to Work Week. We showed two presentations: one about CicLAvia bike events around Los Angeles, and another about writer and adventurer Jedidiah Jenkins' bicycle trip from Oregon to Patagonia. It was a small, intimate event, but people loved the presentations! They loved the beer, which definitely enhanced the good vibes.
What is Bike to Work Week? It's when our employees ride their bikes to work every day for a week to reduce carbon emissions. Patagonia donates $500 - plus $1 for every mile we ride - to a charity of our choice.
We partnered with CicLAvia, which is an LA-based nonprofit that raises awareness about bicycle safety by closing off streets to cars and holding massive group bike rides every few months. Our store rode 555 miles during Bike to Work Week, which means Patagonia is donating $1,555 to CicLAvia.
In addition, we collected suggested donations for the Ninkasi beers, which raised another $87 for CicLAvia. People absolutely loved the beer!
