Go on a Ninkasi Beer Run!

Mar 03, 2016 Comments (23)

Our core purpose at Ninkasi is to Perpetuate Better Living. One of our favorite ways to do that is by pairing our passions with delicious beer. Running happens to be one of our most widely shared passions, both at the brewery and across all of the communities where Ninkasi is flowing. From the track to tarmac to trails, one thing that unites all of us runners is our love for beer. So we decided to brew a beer that celebrates our love for chasing miles with beer! We’re also partnering with TrackTown USA to be the craft beer sponsor of the TrackTown16 Fan Festival during the Track & Field Trials at Hayward Field and wanted to offer a beer to all of the competitors and fans that truly commemorates the event, the running community, and our home in TrackTown, USA.

We brewed a flavorful IPA because that's what we like to drink after a run and that's what we see all of our running friends reach for. But to make sure this is a beer that runners want to drink after a run, we brewed a test batch of Beer Run IPA and we’re hosting a series of Ninkasi Beer Runs in cities around the country so runners can try it and let us know what they think. After a run, of course.

Ninkasi runner Andrew Wheating led the first of the Ninkasi Beer Runs from our Tasting Room on Friday night. We had a great crowd of trail runners, marathoners, 5kers, stroller-pushing dads, canine companions, and Olympians all show up to run and Beer Run.

Now we need more of you runners to join us for a Beer Run and give us your results! We’ve partnered with several other runners, running groups, and local running shops, to help us lead these runs in communities across the country during March and April. We'll report all of the feedback from the Beer Running to our brew crew so they can tweak the final recipe and make sure we release a beer that runners will love and want to drink after their miles!

Below is the (growing) list of Ninkasi Beer Runs. Check it out, grab your running kicks, and join us for a Ninkasi Beer Run!

How can I set up a Ninkasi Beer run here in Maine? I love your beer, and I organize trail runs here in Maine.

Hi Ian - Thanks for asking! Unfortunately we don't have distribution quite yet in Maine. If you'd like to send us an email with your contact info, we'll keep you updated: newsroom@ninkasibrewing.com. Cheers!

Any idea of where you'll be in Sacramento? Looking forward to it!!

So given your response to Ian, that means no love to Cleveland, Oh or Asheville, NC. Both have a huge beer and running community as well.

I know you have distribution down here in Ft Lauderdale because I buy your beer all of the time. Beer runs are popular down here and after a run in hot temps and high humidity we need a beer! If you want to have our thirsty runners sample your new beer send me an email. I know an amazing running store that would love to host it.

Hey Dave! We have lots of love for Cleveland and Asheville and ALL of the great running/beering hubs across the country. Sadly, we don't have distribution in those states yet and need it to (legally) get beer into your hands and pint glasses. If and when we move into either of those states, you can bet we'll be in touch about beer running! Until then, consider visiting us for a vacation full of miles and pints in Eugene!

    Hey guys,
How about Calgary, Alberta? I haven't been running in a while but the prospect of a new Ninkasi brew is great motivation. Let me know if you're interested.

    Cheers!

Would like to sample this new beer here in Michigan. Loved the old Track Town beers and would have it shipped to my home. Any chance that will be possible in the future?
