Help Us Raise Money For The Children's Miracle NetworkNov 15, 2016 Comments (0)
For the past three years, we have participated in an international program called Extra Life, an event that raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network. “Extra Life unites thousands of players around the world in a 24-hour gaming marathon to support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Since its inception in 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $22 million for local CMN Hospitals.”
Last year, PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation's Program - Children's Miracle Network proudly brought in over $1.3 million dollars to improve the lives of children and their families.
On November 5th we opened our doors at our Admin building in Eugene from 8 a.m. on Saturday to 8 a.m. on Sunday and gamed for the kids. Our first floor was transformed into a puzzle, board game mania and the 2nd floor turned into a video game haven. There was no shortage of snacks and of course, beer. Track Town Pizza generously donated massive amounts of delicious pizza to keep us going.
People came and went throughout the day, and a few stayed for the entire 24-hour period. We were able to raise over $4,500 from sponsors and hope to keep that number growing until we hit our goal of $7,000 by the end of December.
Established in 1983, The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals have made its’ mission to provide improved health care for millions of young children. They aim to generate funds and raise awareness through events, campaigns, and fundraisers that benefit all of their associated hospitals, over 170 nationwide.
The money raised goes directly to support all the Pediactric Departments at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend. This means more advanced equipment, continued education for nurses and staff, quality of care, larger numbers of staff, and anything needed to help with pateints overall quality of care, including diapers, blankets, rocking chairs, donor breast milk, and more. The artwork in the photo above was funded by the money rasied the previous year for the Children's Miracle Network at Riverbend.
Staff members at Ninkasi were invited to tour the NICU unit at Riverbend to meet the nurses and staff and see directly where the money raised goes, and who it effects. It was an incredible experience that we'll never forget.
Special thanks to Track Town Pizza, the incredible staff at Riverbend Hospital, our awesome employees, and to the families that participated in Extra Life this year. We are honored to help make miracles happen and support the Children’s Miracle Network.
