Perpetuating Better Living in 2017

Jan 06, 2017 Comments (0) Perpetuating Better Living in 2017

Last year was eventful, to say the least. We produced the official craft beer of TrackTown USA, celebrated our 10 year anniversary, threw some killer parties, and continued to make high quality craft beer 100% independently. We asked some of our employees to share their favorite Ninkasi memories in 2016 along with how they will perpetuate better living in the upcoming year.

Ali – Communications Director

1. What was your favorite Ninkasi memory in 2016?

a. Too many to choose! Here’s two:

1. Olympic Trials! It was such an insane opportunity to feature our running beer at this year’s Olympic Trails with TrackTown USA. Beyond being able to be a part of what makes Eugene THE destination for track (TrackTown USA ya’ll!), we made solid connections with Olympic athletes who appreciate good craft beer and dominate in their sports. One of my favorite moments was riding off the Internet’s love of Noah Droddy – deemed the “Mustachioed, Beer-Drinking “Hero”” by Runner’s World – and getting him hooked up with Ninkasi swag. There’s nothing better than beer, running and mustaches, amirite?!? Don’t know what I’m talking about? Here’s a link to the Runner’s World article. I’m also logging this as a Halloween costume idea. Watch out 2017!

2. Joining Thrillist at their studio in Manhattan for a Facebook Live interview. (Check it out here!).  Nikos talked about space, we drank beer and became BFFs with one of the coolest media outlets on the planet. Shout out to Dave Infante for the perfect t-shirt. Even though we had issues with the audio, you better believe we had one heck of a time.

2. How will you perpetuate better living in 2017?

I plan to do more of what makes me happy! Hike, yoga, plant things, re-watch every episode of Broad City, and drink all the good beer I can get my hands on. Maybe get a dog. Don’t tell my husband.

Meghan – Dock Sales & Customer Support

1. What was your favorite Ninkasi memory in 2016?

Since this is my first year working here I’ll have to say it’s been getting to know everyone. I’m so fortunate to work with such a wonderful and fun group of people! (Shout out to Victoria for crushing at what she does and showing me all the ropes!!) And of course, the beer! I get to talk about beer all day and help customers fill their keg-a-rators with delicious Ninkasi brews! I absolutely love the Tripel and the Believer right now!

2. How will you perpetuate better living in 2017?

I have big plans for 2017. I’m definitely going to take advantage of the rock wall this year! I would also like to start studying for the Certified Cicerone exam. I’m pretty nervous and excited but fortunately I have some pretty great resources available to me through Ninkasi and excellent study buddies. I love beer and I am constantly striving to learn new things so I think this will be a fun challenge.

Heather – Social Marketing Coordinator

1. What was your favorite Ninkasi memory in 2016?

In my short 3 months here, I have made so many awesome memories. I’d have to say I’ve never laughed (at Ninkasi) as hard as I did when we tried to win the Love Food Not Waste photo contest by taking photos of Ben and Ali in vegetable costumes. Here is an example for you. ENJOY!

2. How will you perpetuate better living in 2017?

I will perpetuate better living by being the best me possible. I am really excited about everything I’m learning in sensory, and look forward to expanding my beer knowledge and vocabulary. I am looking forward to upping my organization standards and getting a solid plan for the years in place. As far as my personal life goes, I’ll remember to take care of myself and make me a priority. Also, the corgi puppy is almost here! AHHH! #DogsofNinkasi

Annalisa – Business Intelligence Analyst

1. What was your favorite Ninkasi memory in 2016?

I have worked here for 6 months and already have so many great memories! How do I choose?! Here are a few that come to mind:

  • Completing my first projections for our seasonal beers
  • Tasting N10 straight from the barrels with the brewers
  • Watching Cheryl get dunked at the 10th Anniversary party
  • Correctly identifying diacetyl in a beer
  • Listening to Nikos compare our teams to different Star Wars characters at the end of the year company meeting
  • Drinking beer while hula hooping with Ben Prescott!

2 How will you perpetuate better living in 2017?

I will perpetuate better living in 2017 by spreading positivity in every aspect of my life. I will look for the joy in all the activities I am assigned/am apart of and will continue to find areas for self-improvement and areas for improvement within this awesome organization.

Matt - Bottling Line Team Lead

1. What was your favorite Ninkasi memory in 2016?

My favorite Ninkasi memory of 2016 was being part of the 10 year anniversary of the brewery, I'm proud to be a part of a company that is relatively young but has done so much in such a small amount of time. Ninkasi has made a mark for themselves in the craft beer market and I'm thankful to be a part of it.

2 How will you perpetuate better living in 2017?

I plan to perpetuate better living in 2017 by focusing on new goals that will help integrate work and home life.

Sophia – Social Marketing Intern

1. What was your favorite Ninkasi memory in 2016?

Getting to know everyone and developing friendships in and outside of work has been my favorite memory thus far at Ninkasi. The culture and atmosphere makes Ninkasi an incredible place to work. I also really enjoyed having the opportunity to tour the neonatal unit at Riverbend with some coworkers for Extra Life, an event that benefits the Children's Miracle Network.

2 How will you perpetuate better living in 2017?

I want to read more books, go whale watching, become familiar with various beer styles and breweries, and save money for a trip to Southeast Asia. I intend on completing all of these goals with a Ninkasi beer in hand.

Steve - Local Distribution

1.What was your favorite Ninkasi memory in 2016?

My favorite memory was drinking all of the Believer I could get my hands on. It’s the best beer in the world.

2  How will you perpetuate better living in 2017?

In 2017, I look forward to facilitating our liquid culture.

Ben – Assistant Tasting Room Manager

1.What was your favorite Ninkasi memory in 2016?

My favorite memory of the year has to be N10. It was so neat to be a part of celebrating that achievement in our company. Both the party we had at the admin building and the party we had for the public in the Tasting Room were so fun and full of good music, great beer and such a great positive attitude or celebration. I can’t wait for N20!

2 How will you perpetuate better living in 2017?

I’m really excited about working to reach more people through the tours and tastings here onsite through improving and continuing the Beer 101 program. This is a really fun way to engage with our local public and I’m looking forward to keeping it going this year. I’ve also had a really great time making the recipe videos for social media and am looking forward to more of those this year!
