Extra Life: Play Games, Heal KidsNov 03, 2017 Comments (0)
Not only are we beer nerds, but we're also pretty darn nerdy when it comes to games. So when the opportunity presents itself to game for 24-hours straight AND raise money for our local Children's Miracle Network Hospital, we raise our beers (and controllers!) and get to work.
24-Hours of Gaming For The Kids!
For the past four years, we have participated in an international program called Extra Life. This event brings together gamers across the world, all for the Children’s Miracle Network. Extra Life unites thousands of players around the world in a 24-hour gaming marathon to support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, and on November 4th, we'll pick up the controllers and puzzle pieces and join in on the fun. Since its inception in 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $22 million for local CMN Hospitals.
Established in 1983, The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals have made its mission to provide improved health care for millions of young children. They aim to generate funds and raise awareness through events, campaigns, and fundraisers that benefit all of their associated hospitals, over 170 nationwide.
Donate now and help us reach $7,000!
The money raised goes directly to support all the Pediatric Departments at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend. This means more advanced equipment, continued education for nurses and staff, quality of care, larger numbers of staff, and anything needed to help with patients overall quality of care, including diapers, blankets, rocking chairs, donor breast milk, and more. The artwork in the photo above was funded by the money raised the previous year for the Children's Miracle Network at Riverbend.
Last year Team Ninkasi raised close to $5000 for our local CMN Hospitals and this year, we're aiming to increase our donation to $7,000. On Saturday, November 4th, we'll be gaming away and raising money. Help us reach our donation goal by visiting our team page and making a contribution! Even though the gaming ends November 5th, donations will be accepted until the end of the year.
